“A poet is a nightingale, who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds.”
-Percy Bysshe Shelley
Poetry has become a saving grace for me. Words have become my muse. I find solace in expressing the deepest parts of myself through the flow of nouns, adjectives, verbs, and figurative language. The invisible dance of syllables along a page makes my heart leap in unison.
Inspired by some of the greatest and most well-renowned poets of all time—Emily Dickinson, Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, William Wordsworth, Oscar Wilde, Frank O’Hara, Ada Limon, and more—I aspire to create my own poetry that speaks a voice that is different yet paradoxically similar to those before me. Each poem I write touches on something unique: an idea, a feeling, a fleeting thought, a hope, a sorrow, a loss…
So please enjoy reading or listening. I hope you find something beautiful in each one.
With Love,
Brinn W.
