silenced
and
seduced
Unclothed and bare,
the sun dances her sprightly feet across
the soft, tender, wet sand.
She has never felt so loved,
so intimately touched and caressed
as she does by this here sand;
sliding through the cracks in her hands,
she wonders from what distant lands
this beautiful lover was born.
Treading fearlessly into
the pale sea,
with a glistening eye
set on the lavender sky,
she yearns to be one with
the underworld.
She's nowhere near Hell—
in fact, this is the closest she's ever been
to Heaven.
Each spotted pebble
tickling her undressed feet
makes her leap
with child-like joviality,
as if each rock is her friend,
each shell her sister,
each silky strand of seaweed a brother,
and each grain of sand
a special stranger.
Loyal to the ebb and flow,
she knows she cannot
wander along the loving shore forever.
So, with stars in her gaze,
the sun in her hair,
she descends the stairs
to the black abyss,
fiercely welcomed by the ocean’s kiss.
silenced and seduced,
it is here
she is reminded of
her truth.
